Artist’s Statement

Ram Dass is one of my greatest teachers in life, as he is in the lives of so many others as well. He was a knower of hearts, and a seer of souls. Ram Dass shared his Guru with me. He brought so many of us to our Guru. This portrait of him was created by the grace of Maharaj-ji, as I pray that all of my art is. I am incredibly grateful to be able to create art that is in alignment with my highest values. I hope this piece can bring love and joy into your homes like Ram Dass did in our hearts. Jai Gurudev!

About the Artist

Emily Lakshmi Merrill is an experimental artist inspired by bhakti and God. She delights in finding more ways to be of service and uses her art as a vehicle for this seva. Lakshmi loves exploring how creating art can deepen her spiritual practice. She finds when she is painting or drawing that intense focus on the piece brings about a deeper feeling of presence and connection to herself. When she creates, she often is chanting the name of God or asking for blessings before she starts. Lakshmi has explored many different mediums and ways of creating, but especially loves portraiture and flow art painting.
